John,
The wheel was the same paint as the Corvette. I don’t have a good answer for you on your tire, it is the correct size. Is there something that could possibly be keeping the tire/wheel from setting all the way down in the tub?

What is the correct paint code for the 1958 silver wheel color? Is it the Inca silver that was an exterior color for that year? I have 5 new 5"X15" Corvette wheels to paint.

I also have an issue with the spare on a 5" wide wheel with a stock tire (6.70 X 15) that holds the plywood cover up about an inch above seating in the recess of the spare tire well. I don't want to let the air out for a flat look because I would lose the value of the spare. What tire can I buy that will fit my wheel and let the cover fit correctly?

Thanks for your help!!!

Great article. I have conflicting information regarding Corvette wheel color and this reinforces what I believe to be correct.

I have two wheels on my Corvette which do not fit the trunk well with Coker Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.70 x 15" tires installed. They have hubcap bumps and they fit over the ball bearing front hubs. Could these be 5-1/2" passenger wheels?
