For 30 years, Borla has been one of the most sought out manufacturers of Corvette performance exhaust systems. Their specialized designs and excellent quality has left its mark across the map in both the racing and the street world. Incorporating their patented design and distinct sound into the C4, C5, C6, & Z06 Corvette has been a main focus of the Borla team for quite some time.

Borla Performance Exhaust

Borla has always used the transfer of technology from racing to the street as a tool. Exhaust engineering is a science with which Borla has more experience than anyone in the aftermarket. Their straight-through and multi-core designs increase exhaust velocity to move more air through your Corvette’s engine. Exhaust gases evacuate the cylinder completely, allowing the new charge to come into the cylinder, thereby creating more power. The actual horsepower increase depends upon the fuel management system’s ability to provide the right amount of fuel to match the extra airflow, but generally 7 to 15% increases for Corvettes are typical.

The following are some of the Borla Performance Corvette Exhaust Systems available for your C4, C5, C6, or Z06:

1986-1991 Borla Stinger Exhaust System

Borla Performance introduces a new system for the celebrated 1986-1991 C4 Corvette equipped with a 5.7L V-8 engine. Borla has engineered this Cat-Back system to work with either the popular manual transmission or the automatic. The aircraft-quality T-304 stainless steel system is easy to bolt on, is a direct replacement for the much heavier (by some 20lbs.!) stock system and is based off the big brother C5/Z06 system known as the “Stinger”.

A 3″ diameter front pipe is mounted just after the catalytic converter leading to a Y-pipe, which splits into two 2-1/2″ pipes exiting on each side of the rear. The muffler and tip assembly use a 10″x 5″ diameter round muffler on each side of the vehicle, with a polished rectangular, rolled edge, angle cut tailpipe tip at each exit.

Tests have shown an exciting 41% increase in flow for dramatic improvement in power and fuel economy. That now famous, aggressive Borla growl and great look proclaim this block may be small, but it means all business – Borla guarantee’s it for a million miles!

1997-2004 Borla Stinger Exhaust System

Borla’s C5 performance exhaust systems are available in 4 different styles. There is the Borla Stinger with 4″ Dual Tips, Borla Stinger with Quad 4″ Oval Tips, Borla Stinger with Quad 4″ Round Tips, and the Borla XR-1 Racing Exhaust System with Round Tips.

The “S-Type” commonly referred to as the “Stinger” has a smaller, round muffler with a center-in/center-out configuration giving a more aggressive sound and higher flow. This allows for high velocity and uninterrupted air flow which are two main ingredients when it comes to increasing your Corvette’s performance.

1997-2004 Borla XR-1 Race Exhaust System

The XR-1 performance exhaust system is a race exhaust system that reflects the style and performance your C5 Corvette deserves. It includes 2 1/2″ XR-1 center resonator and mandrel bent T304 stainless tubing for superior performance, increased flow, increased torque and up to a 10% horsepower gain. Its beefy 4 1/2″ rolled edge tips are each embossed with a patented Borla logo.

2006-2009 Z06 Borla Stinger II Exhaust System

The Stinger II, as with the C5 Corvette Stinger Exhaust System has a round muffler with a center-in/center-out configuration giving a more aggressive sound and higher flow. This allows for high velocity and uninterrupted air flow which are two main ingredients when it comes to performance making.

If you are looking for the performance side of the 100% bolt on Stinger II Exhaust System but not quite all of the aggressive sound, Borla’s Touring Exhaust Systems are the answer for you. By designing virtually the same system just with a larger case (notice the smaller case in the above Z06 image and the larger case in the image below), Borla is able to quiet the system without sacrificing horsepower gains.

2006-2009 Z06 Borla Touring Exhaust System

All in all Borla Performance Exhaust Systems are sharp looking, long lasting, and performance oriented. Any C4, C5, or C6 Corvette owner interested in upgrading the stock exhaust should consider what Borla has to offer. It will be tough to find a simple bolt on installation that provides the performance and great sound a Stinger, Touring, or XR-1 Exhaust system brings to the table.
