If your C5 Corvette’s power window regulators have gone bad and you have contacted a Chevrolet dealer for a replacement, you were probably surprised to hear that the cost would be around $400 a side. Due to this high cost we have worked hard to provide C5 Corvette owners with window regulator problems a much more cost efficient solution that assures quality and performance.
Our C5 Corvette left hand and right hand power window regulators include new power window motors and are available at about half the cost of a new GM unit. Each window regulator and power window motor is designed to install using the factory hardware and installation is fairly straightforward once the door panel is removed from your Corvette.
If you are asking “Why do C5 Corvette Window Regulators go bad so often?”… the explanation is simple; over time the cables, which are exposed to forever changing weather conditions, fray and even break causing the regulator to malfunction or even fail. Damage to 1997-2004 C5 Corvette Front Skid Plate & Radiator Support Cradles is very common. They are very susceptible to dents, cracks, and scrapes from running into parking lot stops and curbs. If the damage is serious enough your Corvette’s radiator could be dislodged, creating havoc with cooling issues. If you have had a front end collision then you certainly must replace this item when rebuilding your Corvette’s front end.
We see many C5 Corvettes in our shop that have cracked cradles and many times the owner doesn’t even know it. These cradles crack easily when hitting speed bumps or other road obstacles. While a cracked cradle may not be something to be overly worried about, many owners choose to replace the cradle anyway. Installation is not simple, many of your Corvette’s front end pieces will need to be removed and it will take some time to replace the cradle. When you go to GM to try to buy this piece, do not be surprised if they charge you twice the price of ours.
Our new reproduction C5 Corvette Front Skid Plate & Radiator Support Cradle bolts to the front frame extensions allowing you to return your Corvette to its factory condition. Each skid plate & cradle includes the correct small and large hex head rivet nuts for installing to your Corvette’s frame assembly. These hex head nuts are typically only available through GM where you will pay approximately $7 a nut. Without these nuts you would have to install a generic round head nut that requires a special tool to install. The correct nuts are included with a new support cradle or separately if needed.
One way that you can help prevent your Corvette skid plate/radiator support cradle from being damaged is to install some of our C5 Corvette Skid Plate Stiffeners and/or our C5 Corvette Front Bumper Skid Rollers. Our skid plate stiffeners install easily in 15 minutes and will save your Corvette from damage often cause by parking stops and curbs. Our front bumper skid rollers take about an hour to install. They feature an active skid plate design with proprietary integrated urethane wheels that will eliminate costly front-end damage caused by lowering, steep driveways or other obstacles. Each set includes a pair of bumper savers and all necessary hardware. Welding is not required to complete installation but is recommended.
If your C4 or C5 Corvette’s Wheels Bearings have gone bad we now have a cost efficient solution that will not require you to sacrifice durability or performance. The base C6 Wheel sizes include 19″x9.5″ and 20″x11″ while the Z06, ZR1, & Grand Sport sizes run 19″x10″ and 20″x12.5″.
Though every Forgeline wheel is built to meet the rigors of track use, the Forgeline Competition Series raises the bar just that much higher. To show how simple the installation of these nose masks are we have included step-by-step instructions that show how to install the C6 Z06/ZR1 Corvette (Grand Sport if desired) Front Bumper “Stretch Bra” Cloth Nose Mask on a 2007 Z06…
Step 1
Remove the five (5) screws that attach the ground affects/fender liner to the front fender of your Corvette. Repeat for both the left and right side.
Step 2
Replace the ten (10) torx head screws with the ten (10) snap screws that are supplied with the front bumper mask. Repeat for both the left and right side.
Step 3a
Attach the snaps on one end of the nose mask to the inside of your Corvette’s fender (Note: The top of the mask has plastic retainer clips). Pull the bottom of the mask under the front bumper and stretch the mask across the bumper.
Step 3b
Attach the snaps on the opposite end of the mask to the inside of the opposite fender. Be sure that the bottom of the mask remains under the front bumper.
Step 4a
Anchor the top of the mask inside the engine compartment with the plastic clips. The two inner clips will attach just under the hood seal in the vertical position.
Step 4b
The two outer clips will attach on each end of the bumper mounting bracket in the horizontal position. Be sure to attach the outer clips to the edge of the mounting bracket as shown to keep the mask stretched tight.
Step 4c
Here you can see one of the inner clips has been attached to the bumper mount bracket. Make sure that each clip rivet is pulled away from the hood before moving on.
Step 4d
Here you can see both inner clips attached in the vertical position to the bumper mount bracket. Each clip rivet is inside the engine compartment allowing for hood clearance when closing.
Step 5
Place the Velcro strip supplied with the mask under your Corvette to mate up with the Velcro strip on the bottom of the mask. Attach the six clips in the center of the mask to the grill to complete installation.
After the front bumper mask has been installed check to be sure that all snaps are fastened securely and all clips are attached properly. It is not recommended to leave the front bumper mask on for extended periods of time. The mask may be cleaned by hand or machine washed in a laundry bag with a mild detergent (no bleach).
