How do you remove the windshield wiper motor from a 1969 Corvette?

Answer: The wiper motor is held to the cowl by three studs coming from the windshield side. First, gain access by raising the wiper door assembly to its highest position, this can be done by removing the plug from the wiper door vacuum canister and pulling the wiper door up. Additional access can

be gained by removing the (8) screws holding the wiper door grill in place. Disconnect the wiper arms from the ball stud on the back of the wiper motor; two nuts with attaching washers hold the arms to the ball stud. There is also a single nut that holds the ball stud bracket to the back of the wiper motor, this may need to be removed as well. Try to reach these components without removing the wiper door, as removing wiper doors typically cause other problems including broken bolts which typically require professional repair. Once the arms are loose, simply loosen the three nuts on the front of the wiper motor and the motor can be pulled straight forward and off the cowl. When replacing the wiper motor with a new or rebuilt unit, order separately the wiper motor mount bushings as these are usually dry and cracked due to engine compartment heat.

1969 Corvette Windshield Wiper and Door: I turned on my windshield wipers, the wiper door opened and the wipers moved a few times. When I turned off the wiper switch the wiper door never returned to the closed position. Is this a vacuum problem? Do I need a new wiper motor? Are the two connected? My headlights open and close just fine. Any suggestions?

It is very hard to say without being able to troubleshoot the Corvette Wiper System ourselves. The problem is likely vacuum related but there are some electrical components involved as well. Check the vacuum switch on the passenger side wiper arm as this Corvette Part could be causing the problems.
How do you remove a 1967 Corvette wiper motor?

First disconnect the washer hoses and electrical connectors from your Corvette’s wiper motor assembly. Next loosen the nuts retaining the drive rod ball stud to the crank arm. Now you can remove the three bolts retaining the motor and pull the assembly from the cowl.
My cowl does not open when I turn on the windshield wipers and even the lever under the streering column fails to make it open as well I have to pull by hand to release the wipers which do work well. What do you think is the issue to the cowl failing to open ? Thanks – my vette is a 1972.

It could be several vacuum related problems but most likely it is the wiper door actuator located in the engine bay on the passengers side. Good Luck!
