Corvette Power Window Motor

Corvette Power Window Motors, though they seem very simple, are commonly confused with each other when determining which is correct for a 1956-1982 Corvette. The reason for the confusion is that 1956-1967 Corvette left hand power window motors are also used as the right hand motor on 1968-1982 Corvettes. Additionally, 1956-1967 Corvette right hand power window motors are also used as the left hand motor on 1968-1982 Corvettes. To make matters even more complicated, 1956-1957 power window motors used a type one plug , 1958-1975 power window motors used a type two plug (“T” pattern) and 1976-1982 power window motors used a type three plug (parallel pattern). These plugs are the main plugs that connect the Corvette Power Window Motors to the factory wiring harness.

For 1956-1957 Corvettes: If you are replacing your Corvette power window motors on your 1956-1957 Corvette you will need our Power Window Motor Conversion Harness, which is designed to adapt the new power window motor to the type one plug on the factory style 1956-1957 wiring harness. Essentially what you would be doing is installing a type 3 power window motor in a Corvette that has the type one wiring harness.

Also available for 1956-1957 Corvettes are Type Two Power Window Conversion Harnesses. These will allow you to install a type two (1958-1975) style power window motor into a type one (1956-1957) Corvette wiring harness.

For 1958-1975 Corvettes: If you have decided to replace your 1958-1975 Corvettes power window motors with our new motors you will also need the correct Power Window Motor Conversion Harness. The conversion harness is designed to adapt the new power window motor to the type two plug on the factory style 1958-1975 wiring harness. Essentially what you would be doing is installing a type 3 power window motor in a Corvette that is equipped with the original style type two wiring harness.

For 1976-1982 Corvettes: Replacing the power window motors on a 1976-1982 Corvette is one step easier because no conversion is required. All of our 1956-1982 Corvette Power Window Motors include type three plugs therefor they will install directly into the factory wiring harness on a 1976-1982 Corvette.

Corvette Floor Pans

If you have restored or are restoring a 1975-1982 Corvette you most likely have had to deal with rust issues in your floor pans. Rusted floor pans are a major problem with 1975-1982 Corvettes. In 1975, GM decided to install steel floor pans instead of the previously used fiberglass floor pans, most likely to cut down interior noise and heat. The problem with the steel floor pans, of course, is when they are exposed to water for long periods of time; they rust. If you have been around or worked on many 1968-1982 era Corvettes then you probably know that they are prone to leaking and rusting around the windshield frame and t-tops. Replace the windshield frame to fix the source of the problem. Over time the water makes its way down into the floor where it sits under the carpet and rusts the floor pans. You can try to patch smaller rust holes but often times the only solution is to completely replace the damaged floor pans.

We now offer brand new 1975-1982 Corvette Floor Pans so you do not have to worry about finding a donor car to cut set out of yourself. Our Corvette floor pans are designed to be welded in the rear and sides while the front is riveted in place as original. During the installation you will be able to keep your Corvette’s original transmission and driveshaft tunnel. These new floor pans are correctly made for either 75-77 or 78-82 where previously there was only one style available for all 75-82. If your C5 Corvette’s power window regulators have gone bad and you have contacted a Chevrolet dealer for a replacement, you were probably surprised to hear that the cost would be around $400 a side. Due to this high cost we have worked hard to provide C5 Corvette owners with window regulator problems a much more cost efficient solution that assures quality and performance.

Our C5 Corvette left hand and right hand power window regulators include new power window motors and are available at about half the cost of a new GM unit. Each window regulator and power window motor is designed to install using the factory hardware and installation is fairly straightforward once the door panel is removed from your Corvette.

Corvette HEI Pigtail

A couple things to consider when upgrading your Corvettes points to HEI are that you must remove your Corvette’s ignition shielding due to the distributor cap size and our Corvette HEI Coil Pigtail is a must have to complete installation. To install the new HEI distributor you must remove the ballast resistor (on equipped Corvettes) or white cloth covered wire which drops voltage to your original points style distributor. Voltage for HEI distributors should be 13.7 volts (approximately, when vehicle is running) to operate at peak efficiency. This HEI tachometer drive distributor will work on all 1962-1974 Corvettes except 340 horsepower applications.

What GM and Sachs have done with the ZR1 is designed a factory clutch that is capable of handling over 800 horsepower while still offering the drivability expected of a new C6 Corvette. Originally only available for the C6 ZR1 Corvette, you can now install the best factory clutch ever to be in a Corvette with our ZR1 Corvette clutch assembly. Our clutch kit includes the OEM ZR1 pressure plate and disk, new throw out bearing and slave cylinder, new billet steel flywheel and the necessary flywheel and pressure plate mounting hardware.

C6 ZR1 Corvette Clutch Assembly

“Can I use the ZR1 clutch in my base C6 or Z06?” Yes! We have made it possible to bolt the ZR1 clutch to any LS2, LS3 or LS7 Corvette. Our new Corvette Steel Flywheel for 2005-2010 includes six bolt holes as opposed to nine on the ZR1, which allows it to be bolted to the crankshaft on any C6 Corvette including the Z06. The steel flywheel, also sold separately, is made from billet steel by the original ZR1 flywheel manufacturer and has been tested in excess of 12,000 rpm. You should know that it is only compatible with the ZR1 Corvette Clutch Assembly.

So if you are tired of your Corvette’s clutch slipping, or on the flip side you can’t enjoy driving your Corvette because it seems that the clutch has an on/off switch, consider our new clutch assembly. These Corvette assembly manuals are the original manuals we already carry – simply scanned with Optical Character Recognition software and saved in PDF format. The PDFs on each disk can be searched by typing in keywords using Adobe Acrobat’s built-in search function, making it faster and easier to find exactly which diagram or Corvette Part you are looking for. C5 Corvette Skid Plate/Radiator Support Cradle

Damage to 1997-2004 C5 Corvette Front Skid Plate & Radiator Support Cradles is very common. They are very susceptible to dents, cracks, and scrapes from running into parking lot stops and curbs. If the damage is serious enough your Corvette’s radiator could be dislodged, creating havoc with cooling issues. If you have had a front end collision then you certainly must replace this item when rebuilding your Corvette’s front end.

We see many C5 Corvettes in our shop that have cracked cradles and many times the owner doesn’t even know it. These cradles crack easily when hitting speed bumps or other road obstacles. While a cracked cradle may not be something to be overly worried about, many owners choose to replace the cradle anyway. Installation is not simple, many of your Corvette’s front end pieces will need to be removed and it will take some time to replace the cradle. When you go to GM to try to buy this piece, do not be surprised if they charge you twice the price of ours.

Our new reproduction C5 Corvette Front Skid Plate & Radiator Support Cradle bolts to the front frame extensions allowing you to return your Corvette to its factory condition. Each skid plate & cradle includes the correct small and large hex head rivet nuts for installing to your Corvette’s frame assembly. These hex head nuts are typically only available through GM where you will pay approximately $7 a nut. Without these nuts you would have to install a generic round head nut that requires a special tool to install. The correct nuts are included with a new support cradle or separately if needed.

One way that you can help prevent your Corvette skid plate/radiator support cradle from being damaged is to install some of our C5 Corvette Skid Plate Stiffeners and/or our C5 Corvette Front Bumper Skid Rollers. Our skid plate stiffeners install easily in 15 minutes and will save your Corvette from damage often cause by parking stops and curbs. Our front bumper skid rollers take about an hour to install. They feature an active skid plate design with proprietary integrated urethane wheels that will eliminate costly front-end damage caused by lowering, steep driveways or other obstacles. Each set includes a pair of bumper savers and all necessary hardware. Welding is not required to complete installation but is recommended.

Corvette Heat Barrier Kits

By the time Chevrolet started producing C5 and C6 Corvettes, they had moved well past the days of hot interior temperatures. They were able to do so by installing carpet in Corvettes that were backed with high quality material similar to the mass backing carpet we’ve talked about before. However, before mass backing, which was used in C4 Corvettes, the carpet sets were not designed to keep the interior of your Corvette free of noise and heat. Consequently, and if you have ever driven a 1953-1977 Corvette for any period of time you most likely have noticed the increase in temperature inside the Corvette once after a short time.

We get a lot of customers asking “Why is the interior of my corvette so hot?”, which is why we offer Corvette Heat Barrier Kits. Often times, even when the carpet and insulation is in good shape, a significant amount of heat will build up inside your Corvette. If this is happening to you then a Corvette heat barrier kit will likely solve most of the heat issues.

Our Corvette heat barrier kits are made of a ceramic cloth-like material with reinforced foil backing. Each kit includes 1/8″ pre-cut pieces that install under the carpet to effectively reduce interior temperatures up to 50%.  For most year Corvettes we have these heat barrier kits available in a 6-piece front only set or a 7-piece full car set. 1992 C4 Corvette

This gorgeous 1992 Corvette Coupe is Quasar Blue (only 1043 made) with gray leather interior. The paint is in impeccable condition and this Corvette hardly has a scratch on the entire surface. The car has a painted top, has been garaged kept and only driven on sunny days. It probably has over 100 coats of Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze wax on it.

The gray leather interior is in nice shape, there are no rips or tears and this Corvette has never been smoked in. Several of the amps and speakers have been replaced, floor mats have been added as well as door sill guards. This car is loaded with all options including power seats and climate control. The stereo sounds great, the CD player does not work, (common problem), the a/c blows ice cold, and all other power options operate like they should.

The car is powered by the LT-1 350-300 hp mated to an automatic transmission. The car runs, drives, and shifts great. The car has 85,407 actual miles. We installed a Corsa Exhaust System 2 years ago that looks and sounds great. This car gets between 19-25 miles to the gallon, we would drive it any distance in a moments notice.

The chrome wheels are 17 inch Eagle’s with P275/40/ZR17 Goodyear Eagle GS-C tires.

There are plenty of cars like this for sale for 7K-8K with edgy paint, sun bleached interior, smoked in, and dogged out. Mass Back vs. Poly Back

C4 Corvette Carpet is available with an original mass backing (pictured below) or non-original poly backing material (pictured above). From 1984-1993 Chevrolet installed a cut-pile carpet and from 1994-1996 a TruVette carpet with mass backing that was designed to protect your Corvette’s interior from loud noises and heat. The mass backing which was/is made of ethylene vinyl acetate adds mold-ability making it an excellent choice for both interior protection and overall fit. If you are contemplating replacing the carpet in your C4 Corvette, we recommend the mass back because of its durability and 100% factory original looks.

Mass backing is a great choice when replacing the carpet in any C4 Corvette but for some the cost is too high. Because of this we also sell C4 Corvette Carpet Sets with a replacement poly backing at a fraction of the cost. Poly backing, which is made out of a lightweight polyethylene is a thinner backing that has proven to withstand years of use. Though the poly backing is still a good choice it will not protect your Corvette’s Interior from noises or heat like the mass backing. We recommend poly backed carpet sets if you are not willing to pay the extra money for mass backing as it is available for cost saving purposes only.
