Corvette Brake Caliper & Rotor Kit

Our two-piece 14″ rotor and hat assemblies are made in the USA and weigh only 16.25 pounds. Each Coleman Racing rotor (which are used in NASCAR, Desert Race Trucks and more) is gas veined and custom machined for the Z06 Corvette. The aluminum hats are machined from 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum that is hard coated black anodized. The hat and rotors are held together with NAS fasteners, which are used in both aircraft and spacecraft production.

As advertised our stainless steel braided brake hoses are included in this Corvette Brake Upgrade Kit. They come with Teflon lining that will far outlast rubber hoses, plus deliver a firmer pedal. These stainless hoses will bolt right on, are heat resistant, and completely street legal. As mentioned, they are also DOT approved and made in the USA.

The Hawk Corvette Brake Pads included in the brake upgrade kit are a low noise compound that offers ultimate stopping power and creates an ultra-low amount of dust. The premium, high performance compound called performance ceramic is engineered to reduce brake NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) in Corvettes, creating a quieter performing brake pad. Furthermore, the ceramic brake pad formula has a linear friction profile that allows your ABS brake system to work more effectively. With performance ceramic brake pads you can expect reduced brake pad wear, lower dust output levels and a rotor-friendly brake pad. By using Hawk Corvette Brake Pads you will see and increase in stopping power, rotor life, and pad life while maintaining an ultra-low amount of dust and noise.

The correct answer is not to install one over the other, but to decide which caliper will be better suited for your restoration or Corvette Brake Overhaul. Original Shark-era Corvettes had the lip seal design caliper installed. With that said if you would like to keep your Corvette 100% correct then the lip seal is the way to go. However, be aware that prolonged inactivity and/or worn brake components are the enemy of the lip seal design and can very quickly cause your Corvette’s Brake Calipers to leak. If you enjoy exercising your Corvette heartily, or, conversely, your pride and joy often sits for extended periods, O-ring seals are the better choice. They are superior in design all around and offer the best sealing possible.

Now available at Zip Corvette are both front and rear brake caliper o-ring conversion kits. These kits will allow you to convert your Corvette’s Brake Calipers from the original lip seal design to the long lasting o-ring design pistons. The kits include four o-ring style pistons for front and rear calipers, o-rings, dust boots and caliper fluid seals. There are enough components in each kit to convert a single caliper to the o-ring design.

Every part that comes in any Wilwood Brake Package is a performance upgrade from the factory brake system and here is why: The Billet Superlite 6 piston Corvette Brake Calipers feature a fully CNC machined billet body with closed end bridges and a reinforced bridge to body transition. Center bridge body bolts provide additional strength and positive retention of the Corvette’s Brake Pads. These elements combine as an ultra-rigid body that resists separation and deflection under high load. The SL6 brake calipers generate high clamping force and balanced pad loading from a race-proven differential bore six-piston configuration. Staggered piston sizes distribute pressure to compensate for the natural variances in temperature, load, and wear rate that occur over the length of the pad. Therefore, the Corvette Brake Pad life is extended and performance is measurably improved. Stainless steel pistons are used for their low heat transfer properties and resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel bridge wear plates eliminate pad gouging and extend the service life of the caliper. The spring-loaded action of the SRS plates also eliminates brake pad rattle and dampens the vibration harmonics that contribute to brake pad squeal. Fluid tubes are dampened to eliminate vibration stress and recess mounted for protection from track debris. SL6 Corvette Brake Calipers comes with optional black or red anodized finish.
