The factory Z06 & ZR1 Corvette Exhaust uses 3″ mid-section pipes, but pinches down to 2.5″ at the mufflers – resulting in clipped performance, especially when adding bolt-on performance enhancements such as air intake systems, superchargers or head/cam packages. Exhaust System Round Tips

The C5 Corvette Fusion Exhaust System is a bi-modal exhaust system, meaning it has two passages, or modes, that the exhaust can travel through the muffler. Each of the mufflers has two outlets, with one side having a butterfly type valve which allows the exhaust flow to be shut off, regulating which side of the muffler the flows exhaust. One side of the muffler is the “quiet” side, and one side is the “loud” side. The “quiet” side is a smaller, muffled and chambered tube, while the “loud” side is 3” straight through tube.

Exhaust System - Oval Tips

This system uses the basic design of the B&B “Bullet” system with a bi-modal muffler, butterfly, and vacuum valve, which provides the driver a choice in the overall sound level. The “loud” side of the muffler has an aggressive tone similar to the famous B&B Bullet Exhaust System. In the closed position, the tone would be slightly louder than the standard B&B Route 66 system.

The butterfly is controlled by a vacuum valve. Since the C5 Corvette has no factory option for the valve, B&B engineered a vacuum kit with a manual control. The kit comes complete with all the wiring, control switch, vacuum line, vacuum accumulators, and vacuum switch needed for installation. We have used the engine as the vacuum source and the installation is simple and straight forward.

B&B Billy Boat PRT Corvette Exhaust Systems

When some C6 Corvette owners open the hood and look at their engines, they feel the stock Corvette exhaust manifolds are unsightly. Traditional solutions have been to convert the Corvette to Long Tube Headers which are ceramic-metallic-coated or made of stainless steel or remove the stock manifolds and have them ceramic-metallic coated. The problem with those two ideas is that, while the end result looks good, the cost can be high.

Zip Products has another way to mitigate the unsightliness of the stock, C6 Corvette exhaust manifolds. Zip bolts on a set of their C6 Corvette Exhaust Header Guards. Made in the USA out of 304 stainless steel by American Car Craft, these parts are perforated and hand-polished. They bolt onto the stock exhaust manifolds using the stock bolts.

These C6 Corvette exhaust manifold guards fit LS2, LS3, LS7 and LS9 engines. Installation is as simple as temporarily removing the spark plug wires, removing the four of the bolts on each manifold, putting the header guards in place and reinstalling the manifold bolts.

Corvette Side Exhaust Mufflers

When I was a teenager, there was a Doctor who lived up the street and drove a 1966 Corvette Big-Block, four-speed Convertible. The Doc’s Vette was one I’ll always remember because it had the ultimate in Corvette cool back then: side exhaust pipes.

To this day, I remember that distinctive sound the Corvette’s Side Exhaust made. Our house was on the corner at the bottom of the hill, so I always got a good earful of the rumbling, 1966 Corvette as he down-geared and braked for the stop sign.

While there is a fairly wide choice of sources for replacement, side exhaust mufflers for 1965-1967 rat motor Corvettes; many of the parts out there, once installed on the car, do not sound the way those original, C2 Corvette Side Pipes sounded.

To get the sound right, not only do the mufflers need to be the same length and diameter as the original Corvette side exhaust but the inner, baffled tubing needs to be manufactured in the same way. That’s where Zip’s side exhaust mufflers have an edge over Corvette side exhaust parts sold by others.

Zip Products has two types of replacement mufflers for 1965-1967 Corvettes with 327, 396 or 427 cubic inch engines and side exhaust. The first is for the Corvette enthusiast who wants a factory side exhaust muffler which will last much longer than originals. These mufflers are jig-welded. They have aluminized steel head pipes and 2.75-inch aluminized steel, chambered center-sections. The tips are the correct, 2.75″ diameter and are polished stainless steel for lasting beauty.

The second set is designed for the C2 restorer wanting an exact reproduction of the 1965-1967 factory original side pipes. These mufflers are also jig-welded, but they are made of carbon steel and have chrome-plated tips.

Both of these mufflers use newly-designed, inner baffle tubes which are exact replicas of the originals. Because they have the same baffle perforations as did the stock mufflers, they provide that “original” sound for your C2 Corvette.

These mufflers are made in the USA, are sold in pairs and are correct for 1965-1967 Corvettes, but they will fit all mid-year Corvettes.

Corsa Corvette Exhaust Plate Offer

In 1965 through 1967, Chevrolet gave customers the option of adding side exhaust to their Corvette. Though there were over 70,000 Corvettes produced during this time period, only 11% left with the factory installed Corvette Side Exhaust Package. First you will need to decide whether you would like to go with the carbon steel mufflers, aluminized mufflers, or stainless steel mufflers. All muffler systems are authentic in looks and are proudly made in the USA. With carbon steel you will be getting the closest to factory original as you can get. Carbon systems include jig welded header pipes with an aluminized steel 2.75″ chambered section as original, and correct 2.75″ chrome plated exhaust tips. Aluminized mufflers are an excellent choice if you want an OE style muffler but much longer life than true originals. The aluminized steel header pipes are jig welded and include an aluminized chambered center section. Exhaust tips are 2.75″ of polished stainless steel for lasting good looks. The stainless steel systems will produce near forever performance. The jig welded 304 stainless header pipes include a stainless (inside and out) 2.75″ chambered section and 2.75″ polished stainless exhaust tips.
