Though they may not seem like much your C5 or C6 Corvette’s Inner & Outer CV Joint Boots play a key role in keeping your Corvette on the road. They are prone to cracking or splitting, which can have multiple negative effects on the drive-ability of your Corvette. Besides allowing contamination into the CV joint itself and causing premature wear of the bearings, cracked CV joint boots allow grease to be slung out of the boot, which can saturate your Corvette’s Brakes. Virginia International Raceway was packed with Corvettes from all over this past Monday and Tuesday. Dominated by the amazing Z06, there were also plenty of other awesome performers including the new 2010 Grandsport Corvette. The 2 day event consisted of driving classes and open track time for any Corvette owner. If you missed the 2009 Corvette Museum HPDE at VIR you truly missed two great days of performance driving.

The XP8 is a high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range (200F-1350F). Carbotech XP8 is the first of their racing compounds. The compound has outstanding initial bite at race temperatures, a high coefficient of friction, and excellent modulation and release characteristics. It has extremely high fade resistance and is rotor friendly with 100% non-corrosive dust. XP8 is perfect for novice, intermediate and advanced track day (HPDE) use with any tire, and can still be driven safely to and from the track. Many people use the XP8 on the street or at autocross and track day (HPDE) events. Carbotech does NOT recommended XP8 as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of dust and noise. This brake pad compound is available for C5 and C6 Corvettes.
